Born in Stanley 3 February 1948

Married John Cheek 1968, widowed 1996, has two daughters: Miranda 1971, Rosalind 1973

Education: home educated in South Georgia, a few years in Stanley schools, scholarship to a Dorset grammar school and later qualified as a teacher in Bristol funded by a Commonwealth bursary.

Taught, mainly secondary English, with some supply work after the births of my children, until 1989.

From 1990 joined Fortuna Ltd., the first Falkland Islands Fishing Company founded by John Cheek and his business partner. In 1996 became co-owner and a director of the Fortuna group of companies. 2008 retired from the company and sold half of the business.

Purchased Johnsons Harbour Farm in 2011 in order to keep it in local ownership as a working farm and set up Unicorn Adventure Ltd to manage Volunteer Point.

First elected 1997, re-elected 2001 then again in 2009 and 2013

Interests: reading, theatre, gardening, fishing, walking, conservation and my three grandchildren.
