Visitors are able to reach the Falkland Islands from the rest of the world by flying into Mount Pleasant Airport, by boat or by cruise ship.

For those seeking to fly into the  Falkland Islands, there are a number of methods. These include:

As a Passenger on a Scheduled Flight;

  • LAN Airlines fly into Mount Pleasant and back to Chile every Saturday.
  • The Ministry of Defence has two scheduled flights per week from RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, UK; these flights accept fare paying passengers.

On an Aircraft on an Unscheduled Flight;

A permit is required to fly into the Islands, and it it important to note that there can be difficulties obtaining permissions for charter and private flights.

Please visit our Permissions & Permits page before making your own arrangements.

Domestic flights within the Islands can be taken with Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS).

There are two international airports in the Falkland Islands:

  • Mount Pleasant International Airport: This is our main international airport, and able to cater for larger aircraft;
  • Stanley International Aiport: A smaller airport which mainly handles internal flights.
