Longer lunchtime supervision

Friday 1st April 2016

Dear Parents / Guardians of Year 1 to Year 6 children,

Longer lunchtime supervision

For the last two weeks of this term we will be trialling longer lunchtime supervision at the main school site on John Street. The school playground will be supervised for longer by several members of staff, from 12.55pm until bell time when the children go into lessons. This is a change from the usual time children can come into the school playground which is 1.15pm.

The aim of the longer supervision is to provide children with a safe and supervised place to be during the latter part of the lunchtime break, when you may need to return to work and there is no other form of supervision available to you (i.e. if your child goes to a nursery setting, they are already in a safe and supervised place).

This is a trial only, starting on Monday 4th April 2016. It will remain in place until the end of this term on Friday 15th April i.e. for 2 weeks.

Based on a review of its impact and / or success, we will send out further notification in the next term to let you know whether or not the system will continue, or if there will be any changes made to it.

ps this isn’t an April Fool’s joke!

Yours sincerely,

Karen Steen

Book Character Day

Friday 29th January 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

 'Book Character' day

Next week is ‘Story Telling’ week and to conclude the week on Friday 5th February 2016 children will be able to come to school dressed as their favourite book character, if they would like to.  When we hold dress up days, we are often raising money for a charity, but on this occasion there is no need to send money in, we are simply celebrating our love of books and reading!

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that children should only be in the playground when it is supervised and avoid arriving too early.  While summer is still with us, please also remember to apply suncream and wear sunhats.

Yours sincerely,

Karen Steen
