The Government Legal Service (part of the Law and Regulation Directorate) delivers a number of services on behalf of the public. Our services to the public are as follows:

Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths services - we provide an authentication service for documents that are needed for international property transactions. For more information about this service, please click here.

Criminal Prosecution - the Attorney General is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes in the Falkland Islands on behalf of the Crown. For more information about this service, please click here.

Legislative Drafting - the Government Legal Service is responsible for drafting all legislation which goes to the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly. For more information about this service please, click here.

Land - the Government Legal Service is responsible for managing the conveyancing (transfer) of all Crown land and supporting the effective operation of the Lands Committee (which makes decisions about the disposal of land). For more information about this service, please click here.

Protecting the vulnerable - the Attorney General is responsible for bringing proceedings to protect chidlren and vulnerable adults. For more information on this service, please click here.

Legal advice to the Government - the Government Legal Services co-ordinate all the legal advice required by the Falkland Islands Government. This will include advice in relation to commercial contracts and a full range of other services from employment law through to significant commercial transactions.
