The Falkland Islands Government is proposing to invest some £3 million to build a new multi-purpose all-weather sport facility in Stanley. This budget will provide an indoor sports facility to complement existing activities provided at Stanley Leisure Centre and an outdoor full-size AstroTurf football pitch suitable for general training activities. A provision of a running track and other sporting activities are being considered, subject to the availability of funding.

FIG has consulted with all local sporting bodies, clubs and associations on these proposals and has received very positive feedback. FIG is now seeking input from the public on these proposals. We want to know what people think about the plans for the new sports facility and what your main priorities for the new facility would be. We particularly would like to know what other facilities the space could support, including those that are not directly sports-related.

Please read our consultation information sheet which provides some further context and take a look at the images provided which visualise how the new facility could look, before completing our online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MPSF_Consultation. Alternatively you can print out a consultation response form or collect one from Stanley Leisure Centre. The completed form can be handed in to the SLC reception or to Jane Barker on the first floor of the Secretariat building on Thatcher Drive.
