Swimming activities to suit everyone at Stanley Leisure Centre
Swimming is one of the best forms of all round exercise available, an activity for everybody, whether you want to get healthier, fitter, or just have fun and relax. No matter what your age, weight and physical ability, swimming and water-based activities can provide you with a whole body workout, great for shaping up, and even a gentle swim can burn over 200 calories in half an hour. It is a great way to relax after a stressful day.
Public Swim
Swimming is fantastic for all ages and abilities, and regardless of whether you're a keen lane swimmer or not, just playing in and around the water can be great fun - and great for your fitness!
The pool is available to everyone for swimming sessions during these times. Please check out our swim timetable as some activities run during public swimming sessions and may take up a section of the pool.
Lane Swim
Aimed at people age 15 plus capable of swimming 25m who are looking to improve their stamina and prefer a more controlled environment for swimming lengths.
Young Families Session
Sessions specifically aimed at our younger swimmers, aged 0-7yrs, encouraging them to become completely confident in the water and to spend some quality time bonding with their family and enjoying the toys and floats specifically designed for the younger swimmer.
Senior Citizen Swim
Swimming is a great way to keep fit, is gentle on your joints and provides a great opportunity to socialise with friends. Take advantage of the FREE senior citizen swim sessions.
Ladies-only Swim
Ladies-only swimming is a great way to keep in shape if you're a little self-conscious or insecure about your body, or a fun way to meet like-minded women.
Public Aqua-Run
Splash about and have fun on our giant inflatable Aqua Run. This is a great family fun activity, sure to make you laugh and smile.
