News

To protect vulnerable staff and clients, and reduce the rapid spread of COVID-19 the Veterinary Service will be seeing essential and emergency consultations only. All other consultations will be by telephone with a collection box for medicines. Transfer slips will be attached to your prescription for you to make payment so please complete these and leave in the envelope provided in the Veterinary porch.

Please call us on 27366 with all queries, a vet will call you back to discuss your animal and an appointment will be made if necessary. Appointments will be spaced half an hour apart to prevent more than one client in the clinic at once. If you are self-isolating for any reason you may need to arrange for someone to drop your animal off to us to be examined, we will make arrangements on a case by case basis. If you already have a consultation booked we will contact you in due course to confirm a time or discuss the case over the phone.

Lunch time consulting on Mondays and Fridays has been suspended for the time being.

The clinic will be manned during all normal office hours, please call 55366 after hours as normal. There will only be one vet and one support staff in the clinic at any one time so please bear with us if your calls are not being answered, please leave your name and number on the answerphone and we will ring you back. Please do NOT just drop in to make appointments or order prescriptions. Your forward call to us will mean we are able to thoroughly clean the clinic & reception area between visitors.

Many thanks for your sensible co-operation

Standard Shearing
November 1st - February 28th

Cover Combs
September 15th - October 31st
March 1st - March 31st

No shearing is allowed in April except for sheep going for immediate slaughter or small numbers of "straggler" sheep. In the case of the latter the farmer should first contact the Veterinary Service to give notice of his intention to shear such sheep. All sheep shorn in April must be shorn using cover combs.

Please note: The only shearing permitted outside the ruled shearing dates will be of animals which are slaughtered off the shears. The slaughter should take place within 2 hours if the animals are not penned in the building and in any case not later than 24 hours post shearing.
