For the Falkland Islands the legislation regarding the use of drones is laid down in Article 73 of the Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order 2013 which can be found using the following link: http://www.airsafety.aero/Requirements-and-Policy/Legislation/The-Air-Navigation-(Overseas-Territories)-Order.aspx

Aviation law applies to the operation of drones. You must be familiar with the regulations.

Please read the following documents to understand the legislation and requirements for SUA/drone use in the Falkland Islands:  This applies to all users:- whether you are flying for hobby or professional reasons.

AN(OT)O Requirements Table  and circular regarding Overflying Uninvolved People.

If you wish to use the SUA for aerial work, which is using the footage or the drone itself to make commercial gain in some way, then you will need to apply to the Civil Aviation Department for a permission.

If you believe you may need a Permission which is issued by the Director of Civil Aviation please read the Drone Operation Guidelines and complete the Drone Application Form.  Please return completed Application Forms to civilaviation@sec.gov.fk

Drone Operation Guidelines for all users              Drone Application Form

*Please note that there is a charge associated with the issuance of a Permission by the Director of Civil Aviation, this will either be GBP£52.00 per 3-month period or GBP£180.00 for 12 months.

Drones should not be flown within 50m of people, vehicles, vessels or buildings, and must not be flown within the boundary of airports or airfields. Whilst drones are only relatively small in size, they do pose a significant collision risk to other aircraft if they are not flown sensibly. If you are intending on flying your drone near Stanley Airport or Mount Pleasant Airport, please contact them beforehand using the details on this page before doing so.
