Permanent Residence Permit (PRP)

Free from all immigration restrictions, allows permanent residence in the Falklands, necessitates residence requirements and minimum points based system requirements to be met.

(1) A person who has reached the age of 18 may apply for a permanent residence permit as a principal applicant if the following criteria are met-

(a) the person is ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands on the date of application;

(b) the person was ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands for three years immediately before the date of the application; and

(c) the person has carried out an assessment against the points system which indicates that the relevant points threshold is met by the application.

(2) A person who has reached the age of 18 and is the partner of a person with Falkland Islands status, or is the partner of a person who holds a permanent residence permit, may apply for a permanent residence permit as a principal applicant if the following criteria are met-

(a) the person is ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands on the date of application; and

(b) the person was ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands for three years immediately before the date of the application.

(3) A person who is under the age of 18 and is a child of a person with Falkland Islands status, or is a child of a person who holds a permanent residence permit, may apply for a permanent resident permit as a principal applicant if the following criteria are met .

(a) the person is ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands on the date of application; and

(b) the person was ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands for three years immediately before the date of the application.

Criteria regarding presence in the Falklands Islands, criminal record checks and other requirements must also be met.
