2015 marks the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta ('The Great Charter'). This highly celebrated document

On the 14th June 2015, the Falkland Islands celebrate the gift of liberty inherited from Great Britain being restored by force of British arms in 1982.

On the 15th June 2015, the Attorney General of the Falkland Islands, Peter Judge MBE, has invited  members of both the legal and political community on the Islands to celebrate the continuing importance of the Magna Carta, and the architecture of the Common Law within the Falkland Islands jurisdiction. The event was also held in aid of two local charities: Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund, and the Falkland Islands Citizens Advice Bureau.

Additionally, the Falkland Islands released an official first day cover to commemorate the event.
