Public Consultation on 'Schedule 6 - withholding taxes for oil contractors' issued by the Falkland Islands Government Taxation Office on 31 January 2020. The consultation covers the Schedule 6 regime for oil companies operating in the Falkland Islands (FI) and their associated supply chain contractors.

FI resident companies - it should be noted that the current Schedule 6 process applies to the reporting of payments to non-resident persons, however the consultation includes exploring statutory withholding tax being applied to FI resident companies to reduce the risk of companies setting up as FI resident to avoid withholding tax. Along with this, it is also proposed that there is an exemption application process for good FI tax compliance history.

A copy of the consultation can be found here . Please email or call (+500) 28470 for any questions on this. Responses are asked to be submitted by email to that address by Friday 13 March 2020.
